IO1: BASELINE COMPARATIVE RESEARCH [read more=”Read more” less=”Read less”]

The research is the first preparatory step in Intercultural Mobility process to provide an innovative program in intercultural competences for VET providers in order to maximize the impact of an intercultural mobility in the process of social integration of the learners.
The aim of the research is to provide a detailed and comparative overview of cultural based-competence in VET professionals/providers’ activities and profile. The VET providers are able to meet the needs of students, learners and workers. The real added value of a VET provider expert with cultural competences framework is his/her ability to strategically manage his/her own intercultural network, constantly widening and enriching it in order to provide the best answer to people’s needs thus, helping them with undertaking a mobility experience abroad.
The methodology of the research will help us identify the process of intervention and VET providers’ competences in the cultural competence field through a mix of literature reviews, case studies, practice analysis, interviews and in-the-field observation. The framework of the research has the following main parts:

  1.  Identify the current qualification routes across the NQF-RQF that are relevant to the field of intercultural competence in VET sector.
  2. Review the roles of VET providers responsible for organizing mobility programs across the EU and the development of intercultural competence framework.
The first and second part will show the results of the literature reviews, secondary analysis and national/regional qualification framework and cultural practice overviews in order to define an overarching model for an Intercultural VET Provider based-competence profile.
  3. The key competence for VET providers to develop an effective cultural competence framework
  4. The “state of the art” in terms of knowledge, skills and behaviors in each participating Country for VET practitioners around three areas:
  1. Understanding ourselves and our own cultural assumptions
  2. Models for culturally competent behaviors
  3. Applying cultural competence in: The workplace / Civil Society / Our Social Interactions / European Mobility
  4. literature review at international level, comparing the outcomes of four case studies in (IT-FR-CY-UK) in order to define Intercultural VET Provider’s knowledge, skills and competences according to the European Qualification Framework (5 EQF Level) and defined around the three thematic areas as described above.
